"I've been working on it," he tells him. "Getting it cleaned up and sorted. Norton said that my brother had some drawings in there that got burned, though. Fucking animals..."
Sweeney obviously knows about Jacob's brothers, and the fact that at least one's been here, but he often doesn't think about it. Empathy flickers, but he isn't sure how to approach it.
"If...if I could get them fer you, would ya want me to?"
Because why the fuck not? Sweeney's guessing that might be something a temp Warden could ask for, but he's also guessing that Jacob wouldn't ask for them. He wouldn't either, if they were for him. But doing it for his brother? That'll he'll do without hesitation (beyond seeing if he wants it).
"I don't want the Admiral involved in fixing it. Wouldn't be the same, I guess." He knows he's being stubborn about that point, but he doesn't want to deal with it. He doesn't want to think about it.
OH. That makes more sense. Sweeney nods, the silence hanging. What do you say to that kind of loss?
"Norton's mentioned stone fer the next go 'round." Sometimes one just has to scramble for whatever's on hand.
"May be bullshit, but I was curious if there's anythin' you'd like ta see...structurally." The implication being that he's willing to make the effort to see it happen, if Jacob does.
He's glad when they move on. He doesn't want to look at that loss.
"Stone feels more ancient, I think. And definitely a pain in the ass to make from scratch. I just want a place that's open for people to come and be. Been putting the pews back together, though. Some of them I can't fix. Rosita said she'd help a bit, too."

He's aware that his brother has spurned the idea of graduation previously, but he's unsure why else Norton wouldn't have returned them.

His inflections sounds more like 'socially' than 'sexually'. Sweeney doesn't know the woman well.
